در واقع مسیر انتشار مقاله را می‌توان به دو بخش مهم تقسیم کرد. مرحله اول، همان مرحله پژوهش، نگارش و ترجمه مقاله است. مرحله دوم که از نظر سختی، چیزی از مرحله اول کم ندارد، مرحله چاپ مقاله است. از جمله مهم‌ترین مراحل این مرحله می‌توان به پیدا کردن مجله مناسب، تنظیم فرمت مقاله مطابق با دستورالعمل‌های مجله، ارسال مقاله، پاسخ به بازخوردهای داوران و اعمال اصلاحات مورد نیاز اشاره کرد.

شاخص‌های ارزیابی مجلات علمی
در فهرست بالا، به چند عنوان اشاره کرده‌ایم که شاید با معنی آن‌ها آشنا نباشید. همگی این موارد، شاخص‌های مهمی در سنجش مقالات علمی به شمار می‌آیند. در ادامه آن‌ها را توضیح می‌دهیم.
شاخص SJR (SCImago Journal Rank)
اگر پس از اتمام نگارش و ترجمه مقاله خود، فرایند جست و جو و یافتن مجله مناسب را شروع کرده باشید، احتمالا با واژهSJR رو به رو شده‌اید. SJR مخفف Scimago Journal Rank است و یک شاخص رتبه‌بندی برای مجلات علمی است که توسط شرکت Scimago Lab توسعه یافته است. این شاخص بر اساس داده‌های پایگاه اسکوپوس (Scopus) محاسبه می‌شود و هدف آن ارزیابی کیفیت و تأثیر مجلات علمی در حوزه‌های مختلف است.
SJR به‌عنوان یک شاخص جامع و مبتنی بر وزن استنادها، معیار بسیار مفیدی برای ارزیابی مجلات علمی است.
نکته: SJR معمولاً به صورت یک عدد اعشاری بیان می‌شود (مثلاً ۱.۵ یا ۰.۸).
نکته: هرچه SJR یک مجله بالاتر باشد، نشان‌دهنده تأثیر و اعتبار بیشتر آن مجله در حوزه علمی مربوطه است.

شاخصH-index
H-index یک ژورنال نشان‌دهنده تعداد مقالاتی است که هر کدام حداقل به همان تعداد استناد (ارجاع) دریافت کرده‌اند. به عنوان مثال، اگر H-indexیک ژورنال برابر با ۳۰ باشد، به این معنی است که ۳۰ مقاله از آن ژورنال وجود دارند که هر کدام حداقل ۳۰ بار استناد شده‌اند.
نحوه محاسبه H-index برای ژورنال
فهرست تمام مقالات منتشرشده در ژورنال را بر اساس تعداد استنادهای هر مقاله مرتب می‌کنند. سپس، بزرگ‌ترین عددی که در آن تعداد مقالات با حداقل همان تعداد استناد وجود داشته باشد، به عنوان H-index در نظر گرفته می‌شود.
مثال: اگر یک ژورنال دارای ۵۰ مقاله باشد و ۱۰ مقاله از آن‌ها حداقل ۱۰ بار استناد شده باشند، اما هیچ مقاله‌ای با ۱۱ استناد یا بیشتر وجود نداشته باشد،H-index آن ژورنال ۱۰ خواهد بود.
تفاوت H-index ژورنال با H-index پژوهشگر
نکته‌ای که در ارتباط با H-index باید در نظر بگیرید، این است که این شاخص برای پژوهشگران بیشتر از ژورنال‌ها به کار می‌رود.
- H-index پژوهشگر: نشان‌دهنده تأثیر مقالات یک فرد خاص است.
- H-index ژورنال: نشان‌دهنده تأثیر کلی مقالات منتشرشده در یک ژورنال است.
